Hey, what’s up! My name is Scottie. That is right, Scottie. I often get asked if it is a nickname or short for anything. It’s not.

One of the earliest memories I have is asking my dad “Can you tell me story?” It was, and still remains to my favorite way of connecting with other people.

Since I was young, I would write stories, songs, parody raps, and plays. Storytelling has been a source of humor, a way of relating to others, and a source of healing, and a way to try and encapsulate a memory, emotion, or abstract truth.

But it goes beyond even storytelling. It is also comes down to how that story is packaged - or better put - the aesthetics. This might sound dumb or obvious, but I like beautiful things.

You know those things that you do that you thought you would never actually really “do”? We’ll that has been music for me. I was very much a “closet-ed” songwriter and producer.

I grew up in the church and have been a part of worship most of my life. I am very much a “jack of all trades- master of none.” I play adequately and some not so adequately multiple instruments and sing.

It was actually at my current church that God + my church family really championed this in me. I had played an original song at church and before I got off the platform people started sending me money via Venmo with the memo that said, ‘record the song.’ Talk about accountability. So here I am a couple months later. And it is just the beginning. I am very much all or nothing. So that was just the push I needed.

I am able to do that through songwriting, production, poetry, and prose. XXXX The greatest story ever told is the gospel “good news” of Jesus. It never fails to awaken awe, wonder, and fascination in my heart.
